The City of Pelham is supported by numerous departments. Each department is unique and important in its role to support the community. Departments include the following: Administration (clerical support, accounting/financial support), Court, Engineering (City Engineer), Building Inspections & GIS, Revenue, Human Resources, Facilities Maintenance & Landsacpe, Library, Parks & Recreation, Public Works (laborers for maintenance and repair of streets and other community areas), and Garage (mechanics to support operation and maintenance of all city vehicles), Police, and Fire. Also included is the Pelham Water/Sewer organization, Pelham Racquet Club, Ballantrae Golf Club and Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVER ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the seasonal position of Food & Beverage server for the Ballantrae Golf Club.  This job includes supporting the Food & Beverage services provided by the Golf Club inside the grill and beverage cart services on the course, and may include but not limited to the following:

-        May be responsible for opening and closing and nightly clean-up;

-        Assisting in support of banquet set up and breakdown for functions and events in the Fireside Grill area;

High school diploma or GED required. Must be 21 years of age.  Experience in customer service greatly desired!    Valid driver’s license required.  Beginning rate is $8.00 hour.

STREET MAINTENANCE TECH ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for a full time position of Street Maintenance Tech with the Public Works department.   This job involves manual labor of some semi-skilled and unskilled nature including both heavy and light physical labor in a wide variety of city activities as it relates to routine maintenance of the City’s infrastructure, such as, but not limited to:

Maintenance of right of ways; install, repair or remove road signs and fencing; pick up trash & debris; assist in animal control/removal; assist with landscaping and groundworks crew; assist in repairs and maintenance of roadways, sidewalks, cemetery, gutters, driveways,  curbs, etc., and other city property; assist in application of herbicides and pesticides; assist in placement of barricades, cones and warning devices, as needed;

Other assignments may be made by the supervisor in any other field of skilled labor as it pertains to operating machinery, i.e., road machinery (jackhammers, packers and mixers, etc.)

High school diploma or GED required.  Minimum six months general labor experience in the area of use of tools and equipment in construction, maintenance and repair work.  CDL License preferred, or as a condition to be obtained during first year of employment; must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license.

Salary and benefits beginning at $30,000.00 depending on experience, education, credentials and certifications.

APOSTC POLICE OFFICER ~ The Pelham Police Department is now accepting applications for an APOSTC certified police officer. You must have a minimum of two years experience. College education is not required but preferred. Applicant must have a current Alabama Drivers License or the ability to obtain one. You must meet eligibility requirements for accessing certain confidential records along with the ability to legally possess and carry a handgun. Salary and benefits beginning at $44,000.00. The department is looking for a self motivated individual seeking employment with a professional law enforcement agency.
