ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Golf Professional at the Ballantrae Golf Club. This position assists the Head Golf Professional in supervising and managing the golf operations department in a professional and efficient manner. Provide excellent customer service, professional advise and assistance to all members and guests, teach lessons and clinics. Directly interview, supervise, schedule and train outside services personnel. Supervise all other golf operations personnel as directed by the head professional. Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Assist in supervising and managing the total golf operations department in a professional and efficient manner. Must be able to think independently and make decisions on one’s own in the absence of the Head Golf Professional; Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons; Provide golf instruction and clinics that are consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures of senior instructors; Responsible for interviewing, training, scheduling and supervising up to fifteen part-time outside services personnel; Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations department. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess or working toward a Class A PGA Certification. Certified in First Aid and CPR.
Salary and benefits beginning at $30,141.13, depending on experience, education, and other training. In addition, will receive 75% of all lesson income and 85% of clinic income.

ASSISTANT WELL OPERATOR ~ The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the full time position of Assistant Well Operator with the Water department. This position is responsible in assisting the Lead Well Operator, or in the Lead Well Operator’s absence, to be responsible for all activities, as directed, necessary to ensure an adequate supply of safe, clean, potable drinking water which is supplied to customers of the system at all times. Responsible to assist in the operations and maintenance of the wells, pumps, chlorinators, tanks, pump houses and any other related equipment. To ensure compliance with the laws, rules and regulations of EPA, ADEM, State of Alabama, Shelby County and the City of Pelham.

Perform daily maintenance check on all wells, tanks and meter pits, including maintenance of well pumps, well houses, tanks and grounds; collect and keep data and provide daily reports on all well, tank and meter pit operations; gather water totals and provide ADEM with required information.
Gather bacteriological samples and deliver to lab for testing; prepare, use and keep the system’s bacteriological sample site plan updated as directed.
Load, unload and store chlorine cylinders and other chemicals; conduct safety inspections and follow safety rules; safeguard equipment, supplies, chemicals, and tools.
Startup and shut down pumps as necessary to operate system flows and pressures; test pumps, gauges, panels and related equipment; troubleshoot minor electrical and mechanical equipment problems and correct as necessary.
Maintain current up-to-date ADEM testing requirements and fully comply with these requirements; be available during ADEM inspections.
Be available, as needed, at all hours of the day and night, weekends and holidays.
Requirements: Must hold a Grade II or higher Water Operator Certification; minimum three (3) years’ experience as active well operator; electrical and/or mechanical experience preferred, but not required.
