Municipal Court Amnesty Day
May 12, 2012 @ 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Pelham Municipal Court will hold its first Amnesty Court, May 11th & 12th, 2012. People with a variety of outstanding warrants in Pelham Municipal Court will be able to avoid jail and/or additional penalties during Amnesty Court. Because no warrants will be served during Amnesty Court, no one participating in this program will have an arrest record from charges handled on these dates.
On May 11th, 2012 from 12 pm-4 pm and on May 12th, 2012 from 8 am-12 pm, those who have outstanding arrest warrants for various traffic tickets and probation revocation charges may appear in Pelham Municipal Court. Pleas of guilty will be accepted by the judge, fines will be paid and warrants recalled. In cases where driver’s license suspensions have been issued, clearances will be generated so that driving privileges may be reinstated through the Department of Public Safety. More serious traffic offenses, such as DUI, and misdemeanor offenses will not be handled during Amnesty Court.
Those who plan to take advantage of this program should call Pelham Municipal Court at 205.620.6407 before Amnesty Court so that personnel may prepare their files.
It is important to note that should an individual with an outstanding warrant come into contact with law enforcement before Amnesty Court, he or she will be subject to arrest.
