Job Opening – Laborer 1

The City of Pelham is currently accepting applications for the full time position of Laborer I with the Public Works department. This job involves manual labor of an unskilled nature including both heavy and light physical labor as it relates to routine maintenance of the City’s infrastructure, such as, but not limited to:

Maintenance of right of ways
Install, repair or remove road signs and fencing
Pick up trash & debris
Assist in animal control/removal
Assist with landscaping and ground works crew
Assist in repairs of roadways, sidewalks, curbs, etc., and other city property
Other assignments may be made by the supervisor in any other field of skilled labor as it pertains to operating machinery, i.e., road machinery (jackhammers, packers and mixers, etc.)

High school diploma or GED required. Minimum six months general labor experience in the area of use of tools and equipment in construction, maintenance and repair work. CDL License preferred, but not required, but must have valid driver’s license.

Salary and benefits beginning at $28,563.00 to $31,134.00 depending on experience, education, credentials and certifications.
