Annual Spring Clean-up Day
3/10/2010  Saturday, April 17, 2010

Waste Management provides this service to the residents of Pelham one day each year when they pick up household discards normally not picked up.

It is important to have Items for pickup curbside Friday night.  Residents may begin placing discards curbside on Wednesday, April 14.  Waste Management will start early Saturday morning and will go through each neighborhood one time.  Items not out when the WM trucks come through will not be picked up.  There will be no return trips so please have your discards out in time.

The following items will not be picked up:

Refrigerators/freezers, washers/dryers, dishwashers, water heaters
Tires, oil, batteries
Paint, unless it has hardened to solid form
Insecticides
Riding Lawnmowers   (will take push mowers if gas tank has been removed)
Gas tanks/propane tanks, gas grills  (will take grills if propane tank has been removed)
Engine blocks
Window unit air conditioners

April 17 is a free landfill day at the Shelby County Landfill in Columbiana.  It is recommended residents call before transporting items on their own to be sure they are acceptable items for the landfill.  669-3737

You are encouraged to recycle any usable items in good condition by donating them to a local charity.  You may call the Salvation Army at 252-8151 or Hannah Home at 856-1234 to schedule a pick up.
