At 12:45 p.m. on September 22, 2008 the Pelham Police Department was contacted by an employee of the Alabama State Fair and stated a white male was seeking employment and had active warrants in Montana. Officers were dispatched to the area of the Alabama State Fair, contact was made with the suspect and the suspect fled on foot from officers. The Pelham Police Department immediately set up a perimeter of the area and an active search for the suspect began with the assistance of the Alabama State Troopers who provided air and ground support, Hoover Police Department who provided ground support and Alabama Prison System who provided K-9 support. The search concluded at 4:20 p.m. when the suspect, Preston Edward Goff, was taken into custody. Goff has active Robbery warrants with the Flathead County, Montana Sheriff's Office. Preston Edward Goff is a white male, (d.o.b. 1950) 58 years of age, grey hair with a thin build.
Goff was taken into custody and transported to the Pelham Police Department where he is currently awaiting extradition.
