The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has started the construction project to widen Interstate 65 from four lanes to eight lanes between Valleydale Road and Shelby County 52. According to ALDOT, this project will last until January 2011 and will most likely be extended. Expect many traffic delays along Interstate 65 and the surrounding roadways during the course of this project. Roadway worker safety is a priority, so please use extreme caution while driving through the construction zone. The Pelham Police Department will increase enforcement efforts in and around the construction zone during this time period.
