The USTA Senior League State Championships were held May 16 - 18 at the Pelham Racquet Club. In the women's 3.5 division the home team from the Racquet Club, who won this event last year, repeated with another State Championship to put in the Club's trophy case. The team won all of their team matches but the competition was tough and the results were close. The weather was fine until Sunday when morning rain shortened the match time and forced a format change going to an 8 game pro set. IN the final it was close with the last match on court getting a 8-5 win to push the team to a 2-1 victory over a scrappy opponent.
The team is captained by Marlene Rikard and now goes to Columbia, South Carolina in July to compete in the Southern Championships.
Good luck at Sectionals!
