Kristina Czafikova, seeded second in the Ballantae / Mobley Challenger, advanced to the semi finals in a four hour marathon match. Czakikova of Slovakia defeated Sofia Melikishvili from Georgia 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 in a match that kept spectators at Pelham Racquet Club in suspense until the very end. All other top seeds advanced to the semi finals as form held true in the quarter final matches. Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada defeated Ansley Cargill from Atlanta 6-2, 6-1 to set up a semi final match against former French Open semi finalist Rossana De Los Rios, from Paraguay and seeded third. De Los Rios defeated Romana Tedjakusuma from Indonesia 6-1, 6-2. In the evening feature match Soledad Esperon, from Argentina and seeded fourth, defeated Petra Rampre from Slovakia, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play, Raquel Kops-Jones and Kristen Schlukebir, both from the U.S., upset the #1 seeds Leanne Baker of New Zealand and Francesca Lubiani from Italy 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9-7) in a very exciting match.
