July 1, 2002 Census figures rank the City of Pelham fourth among  the fastest growing cities in Alabama, with a 13.3% increase in population since the 2000 Census.  Current population estimates from the U. S. Census Bureau indicate a population of 16,521.

Mayor Bobby Hayes said, "More and more people are discovering that Pelham is the perfect place to live.  We offer affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, excellent schools and great recreation opportunities for people of all ages."
