| The Mayor and council have approved the hiring of four police officers and two dispatchers. Three of the officers will be assigned to Beat 54, the area east of I-65. This will allow us to dramatically cut the response time to this area. The other officer will be hired allowing an officer to be assigned full-time to assist the Revenue/Licensing Department with enforcement issues and to canvass the city and force compliance with code violations. This will include the weed and debris ordinance, abandoned vehicles, signs, etc. Two additional dispatchers will be employed to handle the volume of calls received due to growth.
