The Fire Marshal’s office for the City of Pelham Fire Department along with detectives from the Pelham Police Department, Special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and Deputy’s for the State Fire Marshal’s office have completed an extensive investigation into the origin and cause of the fire that burned Spanky’s nightclub in the early morning hours of May 31.  The results of this investigation have led the cause of this fire to be classified as arson.

The investigation is continuing with the focus now being on potential suspects.  Captain Steve Powell, Pelham Fire Marshal, is pleased with the progress of the investigation and credits this progress to the cooperative effort, professional attitude, and special skills brought into the investigation team by the members of the various local, state, and federal agencies involved.
