The State play-offs for the USTA Combo teams were held this past weekend (11/8-10/02), with Pelham teams capturing two State Championships and one finalist position. Wins were posted by the Women's 8.5 amd Men's 7.5 teams. The women's 8.5 captain is Frankie Gilliam and the men's 7.5 team is captained by Richard Lovvorn. The tournament was round robin play for all divisions. The 8.5 ladies lost their first match but rebounded to win the rest of their draw, defeating the Hunstsville team the second time around and edge out Huntsville for the title. The 7.5 men used depth and a strong roster to move thru to the championship. The 5.5 ladies captained by Carol Dearing reached the finals before ending their run.

The winning teams now advance to Rome, Georgia for the TriSectional Championships in early January.
